Symposium
The Symposium in Melbourne, 19 June 2008, aimed to share findings from research conducted to date in order to characterise best practice in the integration of career development learning into work integrated learning in Australian universities. This will lead to the development of a model to be supported by comprehensive resources.
The symposium offered delegates the opportunity to contribute significantly to the:
-
development of national guidelines and benchmarks for maximising the contribution of career development learning to student transitions and the relationships to teaching and learning contexts;
-
construction of a model for career development learning which has the potential to be integrated into the curriculum in Australian universities, and maximises the leverage from WIL opportunities; and
-
production of a Practice Manual for Higher Education Institutions.
Invited delegates (approx 150) represented the university, industry and government sectors. University representatives were actively engaged on their campuses in good practice related to Work integrated Learning activities which contain career development elements. Industry representatives will also reflect this focus.
