The National Association of Graduate Careers Advisory Services (NAGCAS) NSW/ACT branch and the Australian Public Service Commission (APSC) invite you to a forum on Disability Employment, Australian Public Service (APS) initiatives, and agency support for staff with disability.  The forum will discuss key aspects of APSC’s As One: Making it Happen Disability Employment Strategy 2016-2019, its engagement with disability employment service providers, the new GradAccess and NextStep recruitment pathways for people with disability, and capability building across services.

Join the forum to network with practitioners from the Australian Public Service (APS) including the Department of Human Services (DHS) Access and Inclusion Unit, and learn about:

  • Current landscape of disability employment within the APS
  • Secretaries Equality and Diversity Council
  • Disability initiatives, commitments, and programs
  • Workplace adjustments and workplace flexibility
  • Assistive technology
  • RecruitAbility and the Affirmative Measure
  • Building capability
  • Supporting Graduates and our staff
  • Integration of cross agency initiatives
  • Disability Champions Network and Championing Change
  • 10+10 Disability Awareness Building

 

Getting there:

Attendees need to organise their own transport and accommodation

Public transport from Canberra Railway Station: Bus 80 North, 6 North, 200 North then walk (13-21 minutes)

Paid parking adjacent to Treasury Building approx. $12 per day

Entrance to APSC:

·      B Block – enter on Parks Place West – Level 1, up the staircase

·      Central – accessible from Newland St or Kind Edward Terrance – Ground floor, no stairs

Upon entering the building, please wait to be escorted to the Executive Boardroom.

 

Following the forum, the NAGCAS NSW/ACT branch meeting will be held at 1-3pm

Careers UC (Building 1, 1C42 above the Refectory), the University of Canberra

Light lunch is served as part of the branch meeting

Car pooling or sharing a cab is recommended to for transport between APSC and UC.
